Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new VLE electric luxury van, a high-tech MPV capable of travelling more than 700km on a single charge. Built on a new EV platform, the VLE combines premium comfort, fast charging and advanced technology.
Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the VLE electric van, a premium MPV derived from the Vision V concept. The new model will sit below the flagship VLS in the brand’s upcoming electric van lineup. The VLE will be offered in standard and long-wheelbase versions, with trims including AMG Line, AMG Line Plus and Exclusive.
It is designed to deliver first-class luxury travel while offering the practicality of a spacious van.
Battery, Range And Performance
The new VLE is the first production vehicle built on Mercedes-Benz’s VAN.EA electric architecture. This platform has been developed specifically for electric vans and will support several future models from the brand. The initial variant called VLE 300 produces 276hp and uses a large 115kWh battery pack.
Mercedes claims a WLTP driving range of more than 700km, making it one of the longest-range electric vans announced so far. The van also uses an advanced 800V electrical system that allows extremely fast charging. In ideal conditions, the battery can gain up to 320km of range in just 15 minutes of charging.
A more powerful VLE 400 variant will also be offered with all-wheel drive and 415hp. This version can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in just 6.5 seconds, which is impressive for a vehicle of this size. Mercedes is also expected to introduce additional variants with smaller 80kWh batteries later.
Aerodynamic & Modern Exterior
The design of the VLE focuses heavily on efficiency and elegance. Mercedes has given the van a smooth roofline, rounded rear section and carefully sculpted surfaces that help achieve a drag coefficient of just 0.25Cd. This aerodynamic design improves efficiency while giving the vehicle a modern and premium appearance.
The front fascia features a large grille that can include an illuminated frame depending on the variant. A slim LED light strip connects the headlights, while the daytime running lights use distinctive star-shaped elements that reference the Mercedes logo. Buyers can also choose between the traditional bonnet-mounted three-pointed star or a grille-mounted emblem.
At the rear, a full-width LED light bar runs across the tailgate and forms an inverted U shape. This lighting design gives the VLE a futuristic identity while maintaining the practicality expected from a luxury van.
Luxury Interior
Inside the cabin, Mercedes has focused on creating a lounge-like environment that makes long journeys enjoyable. The VLE can seat between five and eight passengers depending on the chosen configuration. Rear seats can be fully removed, opening up a massive 4,078 litres of luggage space for cargo.
Passengers can choose between Comfort, Premium Comfort and Grand Comfort seats. The top specification seats include features such as massage functions, lumbar support and wireless charging. Folding tables are also available for rear passengers, making the cabin feel similar to a premium airline business class environment.
One interesting feature is that the seats are mounted on rollers, allowing them to be moved easily rather than lifted out of the vehicle. This thoughtful design improves convenience and makes the interior extremely versatile.
Tech Features
Technology plays a major role in the VLE experience. The highlight inside the cabin is a massive 31.3-inch 8K retractable display that folds into the roof when not in use. This screen can transform the rear cabin into a premium entertainment space during long journeys.
The dashboard features Mercedes’ Superscreen setup, combining a 10.25-inch digital driver display with two 14-inch screens for infotainment and passenger interaction. The system supports over-the-air software updates and integrates advanced connectivity features.
A 22-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system powered by a 750-watt amplifier delivers immersive audio quality throughout the cabin. The centre console also includes a special compartment capable of keeping drinks warm or cold while using UV technology for disinfection.
