VW Taigun Facelift April 9 Reveal But This Changes Everything

After months of seeing spies and doing quiet tests, sources say the new version could come out on April 9. What started out as a simple update is now becoming a much bigger one that affects the design, features, and even the way the gearbox is set up.

Launch Timing and What It Signals

The timing isn’t random. Volkswagen is doing the same thing as Skoda did with the Kushaq facelift, which came out in March 2026. Both SUVs are built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, so their updates should be very similar. The Taigun facelift, on the other hand, seems to be taking visual identity to the next level.

Exterior Changes Bring a New Identity

Spy photos show that the front end has been changed a lot. The old rectangular headlights are no longer there. The facelift comes with a headlamp housing that is more curved and sleek instead. The LED DRLs look wider and more prominent, which makes the SUV’s face look sharper and more expensive.

But the most talked-about thing is something India hasn’t seen in this area before. A Volkswagen logo that lights up at the front.

This one feature could become the most important part of the facelift, making it stand out from the competition at night and on the road. The bumpers have also been changed to give the car a slightly more aggressive look.

The silhouette is still recognizable along the sides, but new alloy wheel designs give it a fresh look without changing the proportions.

The changes keep going at the back. The Taigun facelift is likely to have a red Volkswagen badge that lights up, like the one on the Kushaq facelift. It’s also possible that the tail lights will be changed, maybe to be bigger and have sequential turn signals, which would give the car a more premium feel that buyers now expect from higher-end models.

Interior Gets Feature-Heavy Transformation

The outside is about who you are, and the inside is about catching up.

The Taigun facelift is likely to include most of the changes that were made in the Kushaq facelift, which is a big deal.

There will probably be a panoramic sunroof, and maybe even more than one version. This alone fills in one of the biggest holes in the current model.

The infotainment system is going to be upgraded to a 10.01-inch unit that works with Google AI Assistant. This will make it easier to use and interact with voice. Along with this, there will probably be a fully digital instrument cluster with turn-by-turn navigation that is 10.25 inches wide.

It is expected that the front seats will be ventilated and that the rear seat will have a massager function, which is not common in this class. The materials used in the cabin and the overall fit and finish are also expected to get better, which will make the Taigun more in line with higher-end expectations.

Safety Stays Strong, But No Big Leap

The current Taigun has a great safety record, with a 5-star rating in Global NCAP tests.

The facelift should keep most of the current safety features, such as electronic stability control, hill hold assist, multi-collision braking, six airbags, and a rear-view camera.

But there is still no strong proof that ADAS features exist.

In a market where competitors are quickly adopting new safety technologies, this could be one area where the Taigun doesn’t fully change.

Engine Options Continue, But Gearbox Changes Matter

Volkswagen isn’t changing anything that already works mechanically.

The 1.0-liter TSI engine will still make 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque. The gearbox is the most important change here. A new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission is expected to take the place of the current 6-speed automatic.

This is a big change.

It not only makes driving in the city smoother and easier, but it might also make it more efficient and reliable over time compared to the old setup. This 8-speed unit could really set it apart from other products in the same category.

The 1.5-liter TSI engine, which makes 150 PS and 250 Nm, and the 7-speed DSG gearbox are both still the same. This combination is still one of the most fun setups for fans.

Expected Price and Market Position

A price increase is likely because of new features and technology.

Right now, Taigun variants cost between ₹10.58 lakh and ₹19.19 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the trim level (Chrome or GT Line). The facelift could raise the price of this range a little, maybe even bringing the top variants closer to ₹21 lakh.

The position, on the other hand, will stay the same. The Taigun will still be a driver-focused SUV, but it will now have the features that buyers have been asking for.
